The Pulse Gap Programme is designed to develop capable, confident ski instructors. Throughout the season, you’ll develop your skiing, teaching and professional understanding while training as part of a working ski school in Verbier.
Train as Part of the Team
You’ll train alongside experienced instructors and coaches within a professional ski school environment, giving you a better understanding of what life as a ski instructor is actually like.
Coaching & Mentorship Throughout the Season
Regular technical coaching, teaching development, video analysis and individual feedback give you a clear understanding of where you are, what needs improving and how to keep progressing.
Preparation for BASI Level 1 & Level 2
Training is structured around the skills and standards required for your BASI assessments, with focused preparation designed to build confidence before each stage of the pathway.
More Than On-Snow Training
Your development extends beyond skiing. Workshops, movement analysis, teaching practice and professional guidance help build the wider skills needed to become a well-rounded instructor.
A gap course is also about the experience of spending a winter in the Alps. You’ll train, ski and progress alongside other trainees while becoming part of the Pulse community and experiencing a full season in Verbier.
Accommodation & Visa Support
We can help trainees find suitable accommodation in Verbier and the surrounding area. For non-EU passport holders, we can also provide guidance and supporting documentation for student visa applications where applicable.
Your Next Steps in the Ski Industry
We’ll help you understand what comes after Level 2, including further qualifications and potential pathways within the ski industry. Where trainees have the appropriate right to work in Switzerland, opportunities with Pulse may be available based on performance and business requirements, but employment is not guaranteed.
This is a full-season training experience designed to take you from aspiring instructor towards BASI Level 2, combining structured coaching, assessment preparation and experience within a professional ski school environment.
Pre-Season & Initial Assessment
Your coaches will get to know your skiing, experience and goals before establishing the priorities for your development. From there, training can be adapted around what you actually need to improve.
BASI Level 1 Preparation
Early training focuses on building strong technical foundations, developing your understanding of skiing and introducing the teaching skills required for BASI Level 1.
BASI Level 1 Assessment
You’ll complete your BASI Level 1 assessment before moving into the next stage of your development. Assessment fees are separate from the Pulse training programme.
Shadowing & Ski School Experience
Following Level 1, you’ll gain experience within the ski school environment and complete the required shadowing as you work towards Level 2. This gives you the opportunity to observe experienced instructors and connect your training with real-world teaching.
Progression Towards Level 2
As the season develops, the technical standard increases. Coaching focuses on developing stronger skiing across different situations and terrain, alongside the teaching skills and understanding required at Level 2.
Video Analysis & Individual Feedback
Regular feedback and video analysis help you understand your skiing in greater detail, identify areas for improvement and track your development throughout the season.
BASI Level 2 Preparation & Assessment
As Level 2 approaches, training becomes increasingly assessment-focused, helping you understand the required standard and prepare for both the technical and teaching elements of the course.
Beyond Level 2
We’ll help you understand your next steps after the programme, whether that means gaining experience as an instructor, continuing towards BASI Level 3 and ISIA, or developing your skiing further.
By default we meet at Médran. Alternative meeting points across Verbier can be arranged to suit your accommodation and lesson goals.
